The inception of the , now in its seventh year in the US and second in the UK, stemmed from a desire to provide a platform for emerging talent. This curated exhibition celebrates up-and-coming artists, ranging from students to single parents, echoing our broader mission to engage with diverse segments of the art world. By collaborating with esteemed institutions such as the and the , we extend our reach to aspiring artists nationwide, fostering connections and opportunities.
In the US, regional juries meticulously select candidates, ensuring a representative showcase of emerging talent. Last year alone, nearly 700 submissions were received, prompting us to introduce smaller student exhibits to facilitate networking and inspiration. The AXA Art Prize Exhibition, featuring the top 40 pieces, graces New York, culminating in the selection of First and Second Prize winners, each receiving substantial monetary awards.
In the UK we have adopted a similar approach to shortlisting and selecting a winner of the AXA Art Prize. Through our partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts, we select a work from the RA’s annual Summer Exhibition, an open submission exhibition which provides a platform for emerging artists.
To ensure ongoing diversity and originality, all juries, including the exhibition and prize juries, undergo annual rotation, comprising representatives from esteemed art institutions. While the Art Prize primarily attracts students, it also recognizes other emerging talents, such as last year’s UK winner, Olga Mun, who captured the Royal Academy's attention with her passion and skill.
