XL Group today announced that it has appointed Robin Johnson as Country Manager for Singapore with responsibility for continuing to drive the growth of the Group’s insurance business in the region.

Mr. Johnson, whose industry career spans senior positions in underwriting, distribution and management, takes on the role from Andrew Vigar who will transfer to Tokyo as Country Manager for Japan.

Commenting Neil Robertson, Chief Executive, Specialty É«¶à¶àÊÓƵ at XL Group said: “Singapore is a hugely significant insurance market for us. Over the last decade it has established itself as a recognised insurance and reinsurance hub for Asia through enlightened regulation that has attracted leading industry players in insurance, reinsurance and broking.

“I am confident that Robin’s first rate industry expertise and experience of the local market will help us capitalize on the investment we have made in our business since opening an office in Singapore in 2008.”

“Andrew, who played a key role in establishing and developing our operation in Singapore as well as getting us licensed in China, will be based in our Representative Office in Tokyo and will enhance and develop our presence in Japan.”  

Craig Langham, XL Group’s Regional Manager, Asia Pacific added: “Getting the right talent in the right places is what is ultimately going to help us deliver our growth strategy for the region going forward. These two strategic appointments play to that.”  

Mr. Johnson joins XL Group from AIG Singapore where he was most recently Head of Broker and Client Management, Asia.
