É«¶à¶àÊÓƵtoday announced the appointment of Doede de Waij as Team manager, Risk Consulting, Benelux & Nordics, effective December 1.

In this role, Mr. de Waij will oversee AXA XL’s Risk Consulting activity in the Benelux and the Nordics, working closely with local Underwriting teams and Country Leadership.

Simon Schäfer, Head of Risk Consulting – Northern Europe at É«¶à¶àÊÓƵ commented: “Natural hazards have cost European Union (EU) Member States €52 billion in 2022 and the region is expected to experience more extreme events and increased exposure to disasters. With 59% of the Dutch land surface prone to flooding and 200,000 buildings at risk of flooding in Sweden, the Benelux and Nordic regions are no exception. We know that prevention is critical to reduce the impact of adverse events, and that is why we support our clients by helping them to better understand and manage their risks.”

He added: “Doede brings 40 years of experience in risk engineering and a deep knowledge of the Benelux and Nordic region. He will help us to broaden our risk consulting capabilities and develop prevention services that are fit for the future.”

Mr. de Waij joins É«¶à¶àÊÓƵfrom Zurich Resilience Solutions where he led a team of risk and account engineers. Prior to that, he managed end-to-end processes for Zurich’s international customer segment, where he was a member of the Executive Board. Mr. de Waij will be based in the Netherlands and will be part of the Northern Europe Risk Consulting Leadership Team.
