É«¶à¶àÊÓƵɫ¶à¶àÊÓƵ today announced it has appointed Juan Cuerdo as Underwriting Manager, Casualty for Spain and Portugal.

In this role, Mr. Cuerdo will be responsible for managing AXA XL’s Iberia casualty portfolio and leading the company's casualty underwriting team in Spain.

Enrique López, Country Manager Iberia, commented: “The casualty insurance market has seen increased frequency and severity of losses in recent years. It is undergoing transformation due to the emergence of new risks, notably those associated with new technologies and social inflation in the US. These developments have an impact on our clients' risks, who turn to us to help them manage their exposures.”

He added: “I'm delighted to have Juan join us. He has a deep understanding of our market and strong underwriting skills, which position him ideally to lead our local casualty team and support our clients in Spain.”

Juan Cuerdo started his career in insurance as a broker before holding a number of underwriting positions at Swiss Re, Munich Re and Allianz, where he most recently was Head of P&C Commercial Lines. He holds a degree in Business Administration and a degree in Actuarial Science from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
