New Tool for Assessing Environmental Sensitivities
in Europe and the UK
É«¶à¶àÊÓƵhas created a new tool that assesses and prioritizes environmental liability risks in Europe and the UK faster, more economically and more consistently. The tool is based on extensive European/UK ecological and land use data and uses machine-learning algorithms to produce high-resolution maps of environmental sensitivities. When combined with customer-specific information like site locations, industry type and occupancy, the tool helps companies assess the environmental liability exposures of individual facilities or an entire portfolio of sites.
The tool enables our Risk Consultants to quickly develop environmental sensitivities scores showing individual facilities' environmental liability risks.
The scores are based on data encompassing:
- the source of the environmental pollution
- the pathway by which a pollutant could travel
- the receptor(s) it could impact
- the baseline conditions at the site
The source could be a tank or pipeline leak, a toxic gas emission or a chemical spill. The pathways are soil or groundwater, surface water or the air. The receptors include nearby urban or agricultural uses (i.e., third-party liability exposures), water bodies or protected natural areas. The baseline conditions reflect pre-existing pollution/contamination levels of the air, surface water and groundwater surrounding the site.
YOUR BENEFITS
You get a detailed, quantified and consistent view of your company's environmental exposures at each site within Europe and the UK. We also support your risk management team by developing dedicated action plans reflecting each location's potential issues and exposures.
